CLC Intern Randi DePriest was an undergraduate student at Colorado State University during her time with the program. She graduated in the spring of 2006 with an English Major and a Women's Studies Certificate. She was involved with the SpeakOut! Women's Writing Workshop at Larimer County Detention Center. Following her graduation, she hoped to continue working in the non-profit industry with underserved populations. She loves fishing and doing the chicken dance at inappropriate times.
Randi's interest in literacy stems from a variety of reasons. She is an avid reader and amateur poet, and is therefore passionate about the power of language. To her, basic literacy opens the door to the political, financial, health and social literacy that contribute to a fulfilling life. She believes that literacy is a basic right and must be available to persons of all walks of life and hopes to work towards making that a reality.
