Literacy Network of Larimer County

The mission of the Literacy Network is to facilitate a collaborative effort of local adult literacy providers, support agencies, and promote a common goal of a literate Colorado.

Turning Point Center for Youth and Family Development

The Turning Point Center for Youth and Family Development is a temporary rehabilitation residence for Larimer County's youth. They provide many services for adolescents who are "having problems at home, in school, and often with the law." They strive for "a world of empowered, healthy, and responsible families and adolescents appreciating and affirming themselves and others." Interns and volunteers from the Center for Community Literacy organized several SpeakOut! Creative Writing Workshops at Turning Point Female Residential Facility during 2005. The Center for Community Literacy will continue to work with Turning Point to host workshops and mentor programs during 2006.

Larimer County Detention Center

Larimer County Detention Center houses all adults arrested for any offense Fort Collins/Loveland area. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office strives to "improve the quality of life within our communities. We will promote a safe environment, self-sufficiency, and a sense of security by providing excellent educational and public safety services with consistent and equitable treatment." In the fall of 2005, the Center for Community Literacy hosted a SpeakOut! Workshop with the female inmates of the detention center. The Center for Community Literacy will continue to work with LCDC to host workshops and mentor programs during 2006.

Larimer County Community Corrections

Larimer County Community Corrections provides reintegration of nonviolent felony offenders in Larimer County with "individual and group counseling, life skills training, financial planning and management, and crisis intervention." Community Corrections participated in several SpeakOut! Workshops during 2005. The Center for Community Literacy will continue to work with Larimer County Community Corrections to host workshops and mentor programs during 2006.

Front Range Community College, The Center for Adult Learning, Fort Collins

FRCC's Center for Adult Learning offers English as a Second Language and GED classes for community members in Fort Collins. FRCC Center for Adult learning helps with recruiting and promotional efforts for the Center for Community Literacy's Intergenerational Literacy Book Club and Writing Project.

Fort Collins Public Library

The Fort Collins Public Library serves Fort Collins from two locations, in Old Town and on Harmony. The library "provides the people of Fort Collins and the surrounding communities a welcoming place to seek intellectual stimulation and personal enjoyment." They offer a "skilled and knowledgeable staff, a diverse collection of written, recorded, and graphic materials," sponsor "exhibits, presentations, and performances of current and historical works that span the spectrum of ideas and art" and act as a "key community sponsor in encouraging lifelong learning." The Fort Collins Public Library helps with recruiting and promotional efforts for the Center for Community Literacy's Intergenerational Literacy Book Club and Writing Project.

University Village Family Apartments

University Village Family Apartments house CSU students, faculty and staff in an "academically supportive, family environment for students who are interested in living in an interactive community." University Village helps with recruiting and promotional efforts for the Center for Community Literacy's Intergenerational Literacy Book Club and Writing Project.

Aggie Village Family Apartments

Aggie Village Family Apartments house CSU students, faculty and staff and provide "social, cultural, and educational programming" for residents. Community Organizing to Reach Empowerment (CORE) Center

CORE provides "opportunities for residents from the target community," Poudre Valley Mobile Home Park, specifically, "programs and services that address the need for home improvement and affordable housing, safety and well-being, and economic development and education for youth and adults." CORE helps with recruiting and promotional efforts for the Center for Community Literacy's Intergenerational Literacy Book Club and Writing Project.

Colorado State University Resources for Adult Learners

CSU's Resources for Adult Learners, in conjunction with Off-Campus Student Services, is a "leader in integrating the evolving, diverse needs of off-campus students, non-traditional students, the university, and surrounding community." Partners Mentoring Youth

Partners Mentoring Youth is a mentoring organization for children ages 8-17 in Larimer County. Their mission is "to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships between positive adult role models and youth facing challenges in their personal, social and academic lives." Partners helps with recruiting and promotional efforts for the Center for Community Literacy's Intergenerational Literacy Book Club and Writing Project.
