CLC Intern Emily Silva-Mills is currently an undergraduate English Education major at Colorado State University. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, thunderstorms, hiking/walking in general, and pretending to be a stand-up comedian.

Upon graduating from CSU she hopes to move closer to her family, teach English to adolescents, work on receiving her master's degree, and teach English overseas (in no particular order). Whether it is for her own enjoyment or others, reading and writing have played a large role in her life since she was very young. She is ready to make a difference, one struggling reader and/or writer at a time.

In the past Emily has worked with pre-school and kindergarten aged children on their sound recognition skills at the Fox Valley Montessori School, as well as, reading to children in the waiting rooms of the Salud Medical Clinic with the Reach Out and Read program and has recently participated as a conversation partner with the Intensive English Program at CSU. This year Emily will be working with the SpeakOut! Women's Writing Workshop at Larimer County Detention Center. She is interested in learning more about adult literacy and working with underserved populations.
